This post includes four Scripture reflections from the podcast that I prepared for our parish retreat on Sabbath: Sabbath as Rest, Sabbath as Refreshment, Sabbath as Gift, and Sabbath as Thanksgiving. My thoughts were inspired by the writings of contemporary theologian Walter Brueggemann, author of Sabbath as Resistance: Saying No to a Culture of Now, published by Westminster John Knox Press. In between the Old Testament and New Testament reflections, various parishioners are heard responding to the question, “What do you think of when you hear the word ‘Sabbath’?”
We record all of the sermons at Transfig so you can catch up with them if you miss them, or listen to them while you are running or driving.
