Dear Rector on the Roof, my daughter Maureen shared your reflections with me as well as the wonderful service you presided at a few weeks ago. I was just beginning to attend regular services at Saint Columba's when my younger daughter had a long recovery from a hospital stay. She is special needs so this happens. I was missing mass so much and in well over 50 years had not missed so many as I am now. Your service and reflections have been a spiritual lifeline that goes beyond description. my anxiety level lessened and i felt myself breathing more deeply because of your words and expressions. We are no strangers to the journey of challenges in our family and we hold joy and grief in each hand. Such a paradox even though I know thats what it is all about. My beautiful Leslie couldn't be more at risk and just 2 months ago recovered from her 2nd pneumonia this year. Yet she smiles and silently radiates the Divine light all day. Her mom, however gets weary and frightened at times. Your ministry helps me draw strength for the day, both physically and spiritually, that I need so urgently for Leslies care, for myself in spirit and whatever we may face. I thank you, Mathew, with all my heart and prayers for you and your compassion and wonderful community.
