I find the idea of classifying hymns as "coronavirus-safe" or not to be a bit unnecessary. Hymns are meant to uplift and inspire our spirits, and focusing on a virus during that time seems counterproductive. Surely there are ways to sing hymns safely, by maintaining distance or using masks, that would still allow us to reap the benefits of communal singing. Perhaps the focus should be on finding creative solutions to sing together safely, rather than labeling hymns themselves as safe or unsafe.
