As Episcopalians we value the idea that worship should be informed by scripture, tradition, and reason. We have a rich tradition of prayer that flows from the Bible, but we believe that our rational minds should be engaged in the process of prayer as well.
We offer two services on a Sunday morning: The Joyful Noise Eucharist designed for children age 0-5, and The Musical Eucharist. On the first Sunday of the month there is also a Traditional Eucharist. At various times in the year we combine these services in different ways so that we can grow together in faith, love, and understanding. |
Just as rationality is important in worship, we believe that learning about our faith is essential for individual and communal growth. As we learn about God together we also learn about ourselves and each other. As we study the scriptures together we also begin to appreciate one another’s questions and respect different perspectives.
Christian formation and education are incredibly important to us. We offer a variety of faith formation opportunities on Sunday mornings and during the week for children, youth, and adults. Our sermons offer time for reflection on Scripture, faith, and ministry. They are available on our website as podcasts. |
We believe that prayer informs our faith, and faith informs how we live our lives. Many who worship at Transfig put our faith into practice through service in our wider community.
Transfiguration is one of the original congregations that initiated a collaborative model of hospitality to San Mateo County by providing safe havens for homeless families through Home & Hope. Nearly three dozen congregations take turns providing shelter, meals and support to guest families as they regain self-sufficiency. Transfiguration also partners with Samaritan House and Second Harvest Food Bank in addressing some of the critical needs of our neighbors. |
