We are currently searching for a Director of Music at Transfiguration.
This position should average 12 hours per week and can vary seasonally. Range of $20,000-$22,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
Director of Music Job Description
Transfiguration Episcopal Church is seeking to employ a Director of Music to oversee and develop our music program and to help our congregation worship God. Transfiguration is blessed with a Reuter organ and a flexible worship space that has excellent acoustics. We have a small but talented volunteer choir: the backbone of our music program. We also have strong relationships with local music groups. While we enjoy the integration of organ, we are open to someone who is still in the learning phases with organ and support them learning and growing with us.
We want to work with a skilled, experienced and creative Director of Music to maximize our resources of space, instruments and volunteers. The Director of Music will build on our strong foundations and create a music program that helps our diverse, intergenerational community deepen its sense of worship.
We have two services on a Sunday morning that involve music: a 9:00 am Joyful Noise Eucharist, (a service designed for families with young children) accompanied by piano and/or guitar and a 10:30 am Rite II Eucharist with choir.
We enjoy experimenting with new music and liturgical forms to make sure our liturgy and music remain fresh. We would like to maintain and develop a tradition of choral music, with flexibility and creativity in terms of style. We would also like to grow our musical ministry with children.
