Parish Deacon Rev. Davidson Bidwell-Waite

Davidson Bidwell-Waite

Davidson came to Transfiguration in September 2007 as a deacon in training. After his Ordination to the Vocational (Permanent) Diaconate on December 1, 2007 he became Parish Deacon. Davidson brought with him experience as a Chaplain at San Francisco General Hospital, in nursing home and hospice ministries, and 12 years in the San Francisco County Jails where he headed Grace Cathedral’s Jail Ministry programs of Evening Prayer and Stories From Mom/Dad, having founded the latter in 1998. Davidson also introduced the Parish to various uses of the Labyrinth, gained from programs he conducted monthly at All Saints church in San Francisco and quarterly at nearby at Walden House Recovery Facility. Davidson’s job as a deacon is to help members of the congregation discern how God is calling them to use their particular gifts to live out their baptismal vows – something he calls “Spiritual Midwifery.”
