Family Service
Updated 02/17/2008

What is it?

The Family Service is a half hour worship service Sunday mornings at 9:30.

Who is invited?

We are an inclusive community, welcoming individuals and families of all kinds. We enjoy the presence of parents, grandparents, and friends. We offer a toddler table for our young walkers, and our service is designed for younger children to feel connected and completely included.

Who leads the service?

Our clergy are Melanie Donahoe and our Rector, Chad Smith.

What do you mean by Episcopal?

The Episcopal church is a communion of people who enjoy worship, take communion (bread and wine) every Sunday and engage faith with thought, reason, and tradition. We are a community gathered to nurture our spiritual lives and relationship with God.

What do you wear?

Transfiguration is a "come as you are community;" please dress as you feel comfortable.

Why should I go?

If you have been thinking about spiritual life and would like to join others in a low-key place with people seeking to provide a spiritual foundation, this is a great place to visit. We think family time, togetherness, and centering are very important attributes of our spiritual lives.

When is it?

The Family Service runs from 9:30-10:00 am on Sunday mornings. We host a coffee hour immediately afterwards until 10:30 on our playground.

Sunday School follows at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 11:05 a.m.

What happens during the service?

We gather around a small altar. We sing songs. We offer prayers in baskets. We use confession stones to take the weight off of us. We break bread together. We offer peace together. We listen to a story. We sit on pillows. The younger ones can play with a doll table if they get distracted. We meet on the playground afterwards for coffee (half)-hour.
